Did that get your attention?

If anyone reading this believes that raising safe, healthy and drug-free kids is someone else's problem, we have a much bigger problem. DENIAL AND BLAME ARE THE HALLMARKS OF ADDICTION. While your child may not be engaging in risky behavior, his or her friends may be. It is up you to take responsibility for our own children and also the environment where your children are growing up. How? Get to know the parents of our children's friends, so when an uncomfortable situation arises, you are familiar enough with the person to pick up the phone and say, "I am not ok with this." We call this a Parent Peer Group. Want to know how to start one so you can make a difference in lives of your children? Come to our Thursday Parenting Classes.

Don't know how to bring up the subject and express your disapproval of underage drinking and drug use? Use Red Ribbon Week (October 23rd-31st) as your opportunity. This year's theme is Drug-Free Is The Key Are you wondering what that means? Then join one of our parenting classes to find out.

Maybe you suspect your child's friend is abusing prescription drugs? Take the time to tell other parents you know about the Lock Your Meds Campaign: A Parents Guide To Keeping Kids Safe From Prescription Drug Abuse. This year, the National Family Partnership is partnering with King Pharmaceuticals for the 2nd Generation Lock Your Meds: YOU Are the Key.

Want to support prevention in other ways? Make a contribution to the Red Ribbon Miles of Quarters Campaign. Donate online by clicking here.

Do you think we are giving you lots of options? Well, we are...WHY? REMEMBER, for evil to triumph over good all we need is enough good people to do nothing. We are making it easy so you can't make excuses. If you can't participate in any of these options....then go online and learn from our parenting videos. Do something or accept the fact that you may just be part of the problem!

Until Next Time,
Peggy B. Sapp
